When the parquet is laid, the surface pointing, sanding and finishing of the floor occurs using colourless or coloured natural oils.
Flax oil was used since ancient times for its positive characteristics, particularly the possibility of crystallising; its use was limited on due to its greasiness and the difficulty of maintenance. But in this area too technology has made advances, and these drawbacks have been resolved.
Today the system is based on a mixture of oils that may be applied to any wooden floor. The application involves simple saturation of the wood by machine friction (single-brush) and a superficial drying operation with a final machine sanding.
The wood saturation treatment does not create a film. In fact the oils, on making contact with the wood fibre, crystallise when they occupy the wood fibre pores and immediately create a barrier against the absorption of liquids (and hence of dirt), thus increasing the mechanical resistance of the fibre itself.

Advantages of natural oil treatment
Adhesion to the fibre: contact is guaranteed by the absence of film; one consequence of this is that the wood maintains its natural colour;
Hygiene: the wood maintains its natural bacteria-inhibiting characteristics. This advantage, however, does not apply where varnish layers or synthetic waxing agents are applied;
Regolazione igrometrica ambientale: the presence of oil crystals allows the formation of a natural conditioning effect resulting from the absorption of humidity during washes and from its subsequent release where the environment is too dry as a result of the heating;
Antistaticity: insofar as no continuous plastic film exists;
Possibility of recovery and repair: the wood maintains its natural properties of compression recovery, through "self-repair" during the contribution of humidity from the washes;
Simplified Maintenance: this means that the use of these products guarantees the original look of the flooring over time and allows it to be restored with simple cleaning products, avoiding new sanding procedures and removal of pollutant films; all the cleaning products, which have been biologically tested, are obviously also bio-degradable.
It has been possible to give the wooden floor the traditional soft and warm look provided by oil treatment, with the guarantee that it can be cleaned in a simple, traditional and bio-compatible way.
