The dry technique has been used in the development of building methods throughout its history and its origins lie in the distant past: it is based on nature, it was used by the early civilisations and has seen continued developing right up to the present day.
It adapted to various eras without being tied to a single place or culture or specific historic process. Man’s first use of dry construction goes back to pre-history: the imposing megalithic structures or primitive huts are just some examples, although the method achieved perfection in the architecture of ancient Egypt and Greece.
In preindustrial-age buildings, environmental resources were used, materials such as stone, wood or straw. As well as wisely using non-pollutant materials, ecoconstruction has solid scientific foundations and requires a high standard of work execution.
When substantial demand developed in Europe at the beginning of the 1990s for healthy, comfortable and low-energy consumption homes, such ecoconstructions clearly proved their worth in terms of:
• heath
• transpiration quality
• recyclability
• low energy cost for production
Ecoconstruction also refers to the design of forms, spaces, lighting, colours and materials that are in harmony with the external environment as well as the users of the building.
Those of us who are involved in the development of projects devoted to the «pleasantness of living» will therefore be guided and inspired by a sensitivity to whatever surrounds us.
Wood is a precious material, it is alive, richly embodying the warmth of the life that produced it, and for this reason it enhances the atmosphere and beauty of living environments, and we wish it to be experienced with a sense of freedom and harmony, its beauty exhalted by guaranteeing its long life and protection., the health of the living environments, the well-being of persons and the factor of eco-compatibility with the environment.
Tolin parquet on sand wishes to provide you with an exemplary wooden floor that is long-lasting, beautiful and healthy so that it becomes enhanced with age, can be enjoyed from day to day, can be made for life - and loved by life. |
